Sahrawi Refugee Camps

Project: Sahrawi Refugee Camps (2002–2018)

Between 2002 and 2018, our organization carried out annual missions to the Sahrawi refugee camps located in the Tindouf province of Algeria, deep in the Sahara Desert. These camps — El Aaiún, Smara, Auserd, Dakhla, and Bojador — are home to thousands of displaced Sahrawi people living in extreme conditions.

Our team not only delivered humanitarian aid, but also shared time and hope with children and families through educational programs, cultural activities, and emotional support in local schools and kindergartens. Over the years, we built deep relationships with camp residents and established lasting partnerships with local authorities, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, and the regional Governor of Dakhla.

These partnerships made it possible to carry out our work effectively, thanks to the generous support of transport vehicles, local drivers, and guides provided by the host institutions.

How We Helped 🤲

  • Delivered humanitarian aid via organized truck convoys
  • Provided educational and recreational programs in schools and kindergartens
  • Supported and encouraged thousands of children and families
  • Built lasting relationships with camp communities and leaders
  • Collaborated with local ministries who provided logistical support and resources

In the heart of the desert, we brought not only food and learning — but friendship, joy, and dignity to those who needed it most.
